The Lernhaus 2.0

The interactive learning concept enables students to expand their knowledge of electrical circuits, solar power and much more.

Concept

This modular model house teaches, students aged 12 to 15 how to design electrical circuits as they are commonly used in every household. Moreover, they familiarize themselves with various topics surrounding solar power such as the electrical power generation from photovoltaics, its use and storage.

Lernhaus is a direct reference to the living environment of the experimenter, i.e. middle school student. This practical application of the physics/STEM teaching contents vividly demonstrates the real life implications and this context presents the contents in an easily comprehensible fashion to the student. The three-dimensional Lernhaus consists of three levels (attic, ground floor and basement) with magnetic, interchangeable rear panels with different designs. There are specific illustrated panels for each exercise (e.g. on / off, and / or circuit, multiway switching, etc.) which can be mounted in the appropriate level according to the selected exercise. The goal is for a small group of students to independently solve the problem stated in the exercise with the help of the included magnetic components (various switches, lamp(s), buzzer, connecting cables etc.). Additionally, control panels are included for all exercises. These panels display the schematics of the correct circuit and can be magnetically attached to the appropriate level in front of the experiment. If the result is correct all components work properly i.e. light works when switched on, the buzzer sounds and the laundry rotates in the little washing machine. Lernhaus is available in with different stages of extensions (simple and sophisticated circuits, solar energy module).

Experiments

With a total of 15 experiments, the full version of Lernhaus 2.0 offers a diverse selection of exercises with difficulty levels ranging from easy to challenging.
